For the God Seekers

Hi Y'all!

I have compiled helpful sites for the serious God-seekers like me.
Why do we seek God? This link might help.

I don't promote them as ultimate guides
to seek God. The Holy Spirit should be the one teaching you
about God in Jesus Christ all the time.

Sometimes, man-made articles are mixed with man doctrine, and
not the pure word from God. That's why it is not wise to totally rely
on what you read elsewhere.
Ask the Holy Spirit what to believe and not
to believe. Pray that we will not be deceived. Always ask God
for His confirmation on any information that we will find about
God.

Also, read the Bible (I'm always including myself) and ask the
Holy Spirit to give us a better understanding of what is
written.

For us who seek God, there will be times of confusion.
Know that God doesn't intend to confuse us. It's the enemy's
job. When we feel confused and strangled, step away, stop reading
further and spend time with God alone and ask Him to bring
you peace, a sound mind and complete understanding.

Lastly, Christianity is simply about loving Jesus Christ. Aim for Christ always.

Kilig Factor

This Might Help series is a series of articles that might help you in your pursuit of God. I don’t say that what I wrote is all you need. The bible is always the best source of information about God through Jesus.

The purpose of this series is to share to people how God is now revealing Himself to me so that just in case, people are actually reading my articles, it might help them as much as it helped me.

But before I continue to part 3, I want to write about why some people seek God. I find it useless to read the This Might Help series if I am really not interested in knowing God. Or why will I be interested in knowing God? What will make me spend my time researching or reading about the Lord? Why, oh why?

The best answer I can give you is my own.

A good story always tart with a ‘kilig’ and is maintained by ‘kilig.’ I don’t know if this applies to all situations but in my view, I think this is usually the case.

What is kilig? I don’t know how to exactly say it but it is the tagalog word that describes a feeling of over excitement (???)…I don’t know…but you usually feel it when someone does to you something creative that you don’t expect and it touches your heart so badly to the point of holding your breath for a long time, blushing or weakening of immune system and then you lose out of control. Generally, this is the effect of ‘good chemistry’ between a love couple.

There’s no kilig factor if you know exactly what the guy or the girl is gonna do, or it is not creative or it just don’t touch your heart that much. There’s simply no chemistry. We can say that kilig is subjective. Kilig is personal. There are things that will make me kilig that will not make you kilig and vice versa.

Kilig indicates the start of something new and exciting. Kilig is like a hook to a relationship with another person. It is the catalyst of a feeling of longing or desiring to know more about the other person.

I have a good orientation about kilig because I write love stories. And most love stories I write starts with a kilig factor. And an encounter (or a series of encounters) between the lovers need/s to take place first before the kilig moments.

It is sort of weird if you feel the feeling of kilig without even seeing the other person. You need to at least have a glimpse of the person first before you feel this kind of feeling.

This kilig thingie has been the hook of my relationship with the Lord. This kilig factor is one of the reasons why I continuously seek my God.

My love story with the Lord began when a dear professor of mine published her first book. The book had a soft launch in a Christian church and she asked me to go there to claim my free copy. I planned to just get my copy and leave. So I went in a born-again church for the first time. But when I got there, there was an on-going service and she asked me to just sit down and listen to the speaker before she hand me out my copy.

And I cannot foget the title of the first preaching I heard – oneness with Christ. It was year 2008 and I wasn’t a believer back then. I grew up in the Catholic Church where I was taught how to become right with God. Why do I want to be right with God? They told me that my prayers won’t be answered if I’m bad. Or God will send me to hell. And of course I do not wanna go there. So I did my best to be religious. It was quite tiring.

When I heard the speaker preach, he was speaking not on how-to-become-right but for the first time in my life ever, I heard a preaching on I-already-am-right in Christ.

I was like “ What? Jesus and I are one? Because Jesus is righteous, so am I? Are you freak’n insane?”

My plan was ruined because I stayed and finished the service. I got my copy and I felt surprisingly good. This is the truth that they preached and I felt I wanted to hear more. This is too different from what I was taught. Like, so different!

That moment was my encounter with God. That time, I felt the kilig. The preaching was totally unexpected. I did not ever ever thought of being one with God. I was taught that God is always higher, sitting on His throne, doing His job and I’m a lowly human who should follow what He commands me.

I have not received the Lord that time. I had no idea I needed to be saved. But that time, I felt like a tired worker who carries heavy debris everyday just to earn money. Then the tired worker found out that Someone has already worked hard so that the worker can earn not just a big amount of money but so many other additions.

That’s why I decided to go to that church every Sunday to find out more. I can compare myself to a girl who continuously visits the facebook page of a guy she saw somewhere. Until I did not notice, I almost finished one year going to that church just to hear more of what I heard.

From that day on, I have been seeking God for more revelations of Himself. As I get to know Him more, the advantages and good surprises of having a God and loving Him is slowly manifesting.

So why did I start seeking God?

I felt kilig the first time I met Him. I find Him totally unexpected and surprisingly good. He is an out-of-the-box creative thinker. He brings me to heights and depths where never in my monotonous life did I dream of or even just thought of going. He keeps me amazed, surprised throughout my life. I love it when he breaks my day plans and ends up having a better and more exciting day.

People know that I am a good planner but not a good executor. When I wake up in the morning, I already know what I am supposed to do throughout the day. And this self-centered habit of mine made my life so predictable and boring. My life had no kilig factor at all.

Then God came and everything changed. At first, He never fail to frustrate me because He always meddle with my plans. However, I enjoyed my life with the Lord because of that. Ngayon, I’m starting to get use to it. God is so cool. He keeps me in a kilig mode with His manifestations in my life.

And as I seek God, I begin to know more about Him and I am realizing that I need Him in all the areas of my life.

If you are to ask other Christians why they seek their God, they will tell you different stories. It could be when he needed a healing, God healed him. Or she was in need of money and there was an unexpected stranger who gave her the exact amount. How I would love to hear that our kababayans encounter God through this blog. I encountered God while reading the websites on the Try Niyo To Dali section.

But all these can be summarized to this: we seek God because deep inside us, we know that we know that we know, we need Him.

A guy seeks a girl (or vice versa) because he knows that he “needs” that other person.

Until you realize that you need the Lord, you will never search for Him, you will not spend time to know Him and of course, you will never love Him.

God desires for a personal encounter with each and every one of us. As long as you have not experience a personal encounter with God, you will not desire to know Him more.

If you do not feel this feeling towards God, maybe what you need is a personal encounter from Him. God wants to be your personal God. He is our Abba Father. Just as a father is naturally close to his kids and vice versa, so are we with Him supposedly.

Yes, He is King, He is creator of all. He is Most High. But God wants to be very close in my heart and yours. The Bible even says God knows the number of hair we have in our heads.

Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. Luke 12:7

God is that personal! I bet even your mom doesn’t know the number of the strands of our hair. Haha!

God is seeking for a personal relationship. In fact, he wants to be the number one in anyone’s heart. That close!. Even closer than your parents or your partner or your spouse.

I can boldly write that yes, you need God. I dare you. If you ask God for a personal encounter, He will show up. It might be instant or in the future but He will not hide Himself from you anymore. Just ask. Just ask Him for a personal encounter.

If you think you need a God, just call upon His name. He will show up surely.

He probably has shown up a lot of times in your life, you just have not acknowledged. It’s not too late, dudes and gals. It’s not too late. Just speak the magic words, He’ll put you in kilig mode.

Ready? I just want you to pray this short prayer. Not just in mind but speak this prayer out.

Abba Father,

I want to have a personal encounter with you. Jesus, I want to have a personal encounter with you. Meet with me, My God. You said in your word that whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Lord, I call upon you now. I need you…big time. Don’t delay. Come, Lord Jesus.

In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

How to identify an encounter? It is possible that you literally encounter God in the spirit. Or, It is an event in your life (situations, trials, gatherings, etc.) where deep inside, you know it was God or God was so close or God had something to do with it. And there was a sudden change. A hunger for Him has been born. Let Him surprise you as He did to me. Trust me when I say, He knows what makes you kilig.

Rich Indeed

Once there was a poor boy who dreamed,
to be rich is his prayer
to have money is his declaration

He wanted to make his family happy
a dinner to a lavish restaurant for his loving parents
a new gadget for his little brother
and a getaway for his lolo and lola

His grandparents, like him, were poor
living in a small cozy house,
they manage to live their everyday lives
separated from their loved ones

the boy's lola suffered a memory disease
while his lolo was kept unaware of her situation,
he beat her like disciplining a kid
a miserable life, a wounded heart she had

And so the boy prayed to his God
to make him rich even faster
he promises to bring his lolo and lola
to a place where they can just enjoy

A place of sheer beauty, breath-taking views,
A place of peace, a place of warmness
he speaks to them, declaring that he will be rich!
he requested them to wait, for sure he will be rich!

And so the boy, driven by money, went his way,
he learned that money is never a good master,
it is never a light to someone's path
the boy faltered, made wrong decisions

the boy did not become rich,
he is far from becoming a millionaire,
and his lola passed away after being lost for a day
he wept and he mourned

his lolo told him, he hoped in the boy's promise
that he'll get rich, but he did not,
the boy's heart was deeply pierced
his tears flooded the Throne Room

but the Holy Ghost spoke to the boy,
He said you are already rich,
for the Christ in you is your wealth,
the richness you have been praying for,

Remember the time you were given an opportunity
to witness to her, and she prayed the prayer
that God is wanting to hear from His people,
the prayer of repentance, a profession of faith

With her sickness, she should have forgotten that moment,
but until her last breath, it was a fresh memory,
cry not My child, listen carefully,
the words that the boy spoke was fulfilled

the boy, out of his abundance of Christ,
led her lola to a place of sheer beauty,
breath-taking views, a place of peace,
a place of warmness, a place called God's presence

the boy, now a young man, realized that he is, indeed, rich,
richer than the richest of the earth,
for people, if only they know, will exchange their earthly wealth
with the treasure of the young man, his very wealth, Jesus Christ.

This Might Help part 2

It was mentioned on the previous entry that God created everything for Himself. This is very easy to say if we believe that in the beginning, there was nothing but only God. Everything created is for the Lord – the angels, spirits, and of course, us.

We were created, in the beginning, to love only God. This was the original design. It’s like a natural law. It wasn’t written but it was followed nevertheless. It’s like similar to breathing. There is no law that man should breathe but we do it unconsciously for this is how we were designed.

Loving God is a universal law that was there with God in the beginning. He is, in fact, the law. We said that every word that comes from His mouth is the law. Check out this verse:

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. John 1:1-3

And with His word, He organized everything in a perfect order. And with His word, the law, God maintains everything. He is a God of order.

That’s why in our previous entry, I mentioned that when we understand that God is love, we will understand the other aspects of God easier.

2. God is law because He is love. Loving God is the law of all creation.

This is a very important identity of God. I, too, am keeping this in mind because I learn as I write.

When there is law, there is judgment. That why God is also the Great Judge. He judges His creation based on this law – loving God.

Remember, God created everything for Himself. When we were still abiding by this law perfectly, we were for Him, we were His possessions, we were His.

But, every time creation breaks this law, creation is destroying the very ground that it stands on. And someone initiated in breaking this universal law. Guess who! Check out this verse.

12 How you have fallen from heaven,
morning star, son of the dawn!
You have been cast down to the earth,
you who once laid low the nations!
13
You said in your heart,
“I will ascend to the heavens;
I will raise my throne
above the stars of God;
I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly,
on the utmost heights of Mount Zaphon.[a]

14
I will ascend above the tops of the clouds;
I will make myself like the Most High.
15
But you are brought down to the realm of the dead,
to the depths of the pit. Isaiah 14: 12-15

You see, God did not create evil. Evil is merely the effect of disobedience to this ancient law. How did Lucifer transgressed against the law? He loved himself more than he loved the Most High.

And in an instant, He fell. No war occurred. He instantly fell.

He (Jesus) replied, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.” Luke 10:18

His judgment, along with those that were with him, was as quick as a blink. He was just thinking about it and boom!

And yup, you got it. The fall of man was because they disobeyed this law by believing what the serpent said.

4 Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. 5 For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
6
So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate. 7

Genesis 3:4-7

Adam and Eve chose to look at themselves where as in the beginning, they only saw God and loved God. When they ate the apple, their eyes were opened and then, they saw themselves.

Has anyone ever told you a green joke? At first you don’t get it but when it was explained, it felt that you’re innocence has been ripped off? This is probably the feeling after eating the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

God had to judge them. Breaking the law made us illegal inhabitants in Eden. Yes, we were disowned by God because God created us only for Himself. If we are not for Him, we are against Him. In His kingdom, this is the legal action to do. God bound Himself with His Word. We were not children of God anymore. That’s why Jesus said this:

Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and now am here. I have not come on my own; but He sent me. Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say. You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. Yet because I tell the truth, you do not believe me! Can any of you prove me guilty of sin? If I am telling the truth, why don’t you believe me? He who belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God.” John 8: 42-47

Apart from God, we can do no good thing. When we were driven out of His presence, it became natural for us to sin or disobey the law that’s why we became sons and daughters of the enemy.

Forget not that the devil was not created by God. He was completely disowned when he broke the law. He was completely cut from the love of God because rebellion against the Most High is the worst sin a creature can commit.

But us, God loves more because we were like God, by looks and by nature. His very Spirit is in us. So our sentence was lighter.

By choice, we lost our oneness with God. BUT, that did not mean that God does not love us anymore. His love for mankind is so deep that He did not leave Adam and Eve all by themselves.

They just got separated physically. But God watched over them like before because He loves them so much. He never left them, nor forsook them, even until now.

God is love, yes. But there is one thing God hates so much.

Have you lost a loved one because of a disease? Cancer? Tuberculosis?

I did. And the sickness is named Alzheimer’s. Oh, how I despise it. Just the name of the disease causes my blood pressure to rise. I hate it. I despise it. I curse it because I love the person that it killed, I hate it so much.

God feels the same way towards sin. He hates sin. He despises sin. He curses sin. It is an abomination in His sight. Sin took you and me away from His presence. He abhors sin. And that’s why He punishes sin and anyone who chooses to identify with it. He hates sin, but He loves the sinner.

The enemy, Satan, identifies with sin. I bet God hates snakes. He cursed snakes. God’s love for us is so deep that the things that separated us from Him, He abhors the most.

By this, knowing the ancient law, we understand why Jesus said this.

One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him. “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?”

“ The most important one” answered Jesus, “is this: Hear, O Israel, the Lord your God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all you strength. The second is this: Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these.”

Mark 12: 28-31

Loving God above all is our purpose in life. Don’t look for your purpose in life! This is your purpose in life! This is what we were made for.

Honestly speaking, loving only God is not an easy thing to do, especially if we do it by ourselves. We have been accustomed to the ways of this world and I admit, I still have some areas in my life where I love the world more than God. I think all of us can relate.

That’s why we seek Him so that we can find Him. How can we love God if we do not know and confirm that He loves us? For us to love God in spirit and in truth, we first need to know Him and His love for us. After all, it’s not about our love for Him, it’s about His love for us. Love only begets love.

Loving Him should not be a have-to but rather a natural response to His love for us.

Let’s pray together:

Abba Father,

Thank you that even though we disobeyed the law of love, you did not cut us out from your love. Thank you that even though we are not able to follow this law completely, you still love us, you still watch over us. How great is your love, Lord God!

Forgive me for the times when I choose the love the world more than I love you. I know that you command us to follow your law because you know that by following it, we will live. I know Lord that you only want the best for us and only You can give that.

You are the God who loves but you are also the God who judges. I pray that you guide me all the way in seeking you. May you reveal yourself to me as I start this walk in my life.

This I pray in the wonderful name of Jesus, Amen!

Move to Part 3

This Might Help part 1

For us who are seeking God, it is important to open our bibles. This is the best, most trusted source about God ever! Further research using other sources such as testimonies about God encounters will even deepen the things you will know about the Lord.

What we will discuss is a foundational identity of God yet the most important one. Once we understand this, we will understand Him better and easier.

I do not claim to know it all. But may this short article light up a fire inside of you to start knowing God more. So, game!

1. God is Love.

Is it in the Scriptures? Hiyeah!

7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. 8 He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. 1 John 4:7-8

Ain’t really new. It is over-used, in fact. We hear it a lot of times but we don’t pick-up the deeper meanings to ‘God is love.’

To discover the deeper meanings of “God is love,” let us try to analyse this statement using our favorite subjects: English & math.

God – subject; is – linking verb; love – predicate nominative; (.) period

A predicate nominative is a noun or pronoun which follows a linking verb and describes or renames the subject.

That’s right. Love is one of God’s many names. God is love, period.

Using math:

God=Love; Love=God

Many times we hear that God loves us or God is loving. It is not just God’s character. His very being is Love. And love, apart from God, isn’t love at all.

Wait, whut? So you mean my parents’ love is not love?

It is still love – God’s love manifested through them.

How about to my girlfriend or boyfriend? Is it not love?

Depends! How many girlfriends did you have?

True love, the God love, is permanent and loyal. Nothing can ever remove true love. If I rebel against my parents, I am pretty sure their love for me will never fade. The fellowship might be broken but deep inside, they still love me. If you are looking for love to be loved, this is selfish love, not the God love.

You see, true love gives, true love is selfless. God is a giver. God is selfless.

Don’t degrade the meaning of love by saying it is here today and gone next week. Couples break up because what they had wasn’t true love in the first place. Love is a treasure. It isn’t easy to find. You have to dig deeper.

God is also like that. He cannot be easily found. You have to dig deeper. But don’t worry, God will help you find Him.

Now, I want us to do a bit of an experiment.

If God=Love, from Genesis, let us substitute ‘God’ with the word ‘Love.’

1 In the beginning Love created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was[a] on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of Love was hovering over the face of the waters.
3 Then Love said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. 4 And Love saw the light, that it was good; and Love divided the light from the darkness. 5 Love called the light Day, and the darkness, Love called Night. So the evening and the morning were the first day.

---

11 Then Love said, “Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb that yields seed, and the fruit tree that yields fruit according to its kind, whose seed is in itself, on the earth”; and it was so. 12 And the earth brought forth grass, the herb that yields seed according to its kind, and the tree that yields fruit, whose seed is in itself according to its kind. And Love saw that it was good. 13 So the evening and the morning were the third day.

---

20 Then Love said, “Let the waters abound with an abundance of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the face of the firmament of the heavens.” 21 So Love created great sea creatures and every living thing that moves, with which the waters abounded, according to their kind, and every winged bird according to its kind. And Love saw that it was good. 22 And Love blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.” 23 So the evening and the morning were the fifth day.

I want to use The Message bible translation for the creation of man.

6-28Love spoke: "Let us make human beings in our (Love’s) image, make them
reflecting our(Love’s) nature
So they can be responsible for the fish in the sea,
the birds in the air, the cattle,
And, yes, Earth itself,
and every animal that moves on the face of Earth."
Love created human beings;
he created them godlike,
Reflecting Love's nature.
He created them male and female.
Love blessed them:
"Prosper! Reproduce! Fill Earth! Take charge!
Be responsible for fish in the sea and birds in the air,
for every living thing that moves on the face of Earth."

Findings:

Point 1: Everything existed through Love. Without Love, none that were created were created. Love is the foundation of all things. And Love only created what was good.

Point 2: The Words of Love became the law. God is a God of order. He separated water from land, darkness from light, etc. He spoke to keep things in perfect harmony. Love formed and framed the universe.

Point 3: Man is made by Love and in the image and likeness and nature of Love.

Conclusions:

From point 1: Love creates… good things. Ever wonder why great men and women say we have to love (passion) what we are doing in order to produce good results? As a graphic artist, I know this very well. My designs done without love or passion are quite obvious compared to designs where I put my heart to. Even though they don’t mention God, the effects of love is as it is.

We can also conclude, by faith, that nothing bad can come from God. No sickness, no disease, nor death, nor any bad and evil thing you can think of. God doesn’t use sickness to teach us a lesson. God cannot even give sickness because He has none.

Never say that God gives diseases to teach us a lesson. Or God gives us financial problem to teach us something. If it was God who gave you the disease, how can you ever have the courage to pray for healing? If He uses diseases and illnesses to teach us, what now is the use of the Holy Spirit? It is the Holy Spirit that God gave to teach us what He wants us to learn. He cannot and will not give you disease, illness, problems, troubles, anything bad.

Only good things can come from God who is love. Remember this always.

From point 2: Love keeps things in order and in perfect shape. There is a law of love that governs the universe.

Think of this. God loves us so much that he put nostrils at the bottom of the nose and not at the top. If our nostrils are placed at the top and it suddenly rained while we are walking on the streets.

How pitiful will we be! It will be also hard to pick our nose with our nostrils on that location.

However, by breaking the law which is love, the universe gets out of order thus resulting to bad and evil things. God did not create evil. It is merely the result of disobedience to the law called love. Evil is basically the absence of God or Love.

Corruption, death, sickness and disease. These things are not part of the original design. We have them because creation keeps on breaking the law of love.

Another example. If you hate a person passionately, every time you see him/her (or even just the thought of that person) you become angry, agitated, irritable, resulting to disorder in blood circulation resulting to high BP and if it continues will lead to heart failure. A quiet hater is even more prone to heart disease (like me). Love keeps the order in our body because man’s wireframe is love.

Point 3: If it is necessary for man to breathe in order to live, it is necessary for man to love in order to live physically and spiritually.

When God created Adam and Eve, He created them with a nature to love. And because that time, Adam and Eve only saw God (not even themselves), they loved God with true love, the selfless love, the God love. Loving God with all of their hearts kept them immortal – physically and spiritually not dying. Loving God is what we were made for. God created us for Himself. And thus can only be sustained by Him.

And as for you, God loves you whoever you are. God loves you not because of who you are but because He is Love Himself. Love loves. God cannot hate you. Regardless of whatever you have gone through in life, or the bad words you have spoken to Him, He still loves you. He can’t help but just love you. He is Love.

Stop listening to people saying that the bad things that happen in your life are results of God hating you. God cannot hate you. He hates your sin, not you.

God does punish. God can be angry and mad but He cannot hate you. It is impossible for Him to hate you. He is love. That’s why in this verse, it says this.

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[a] neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39

Maybe you need to convince yourself too like Paul. This is the truth that the devil continuously hides from us. But once you take hold of this, it will change your life.

Pray this with me:

Father,

Thank you for who You really are. Many times I think that You cause bad things in my life, that my sickness came from you because you want to discipline me. Forgive me. Now Lord, I know and I believe that no bad thing can ever come from you. I am sure of it. It says in your word.

I know now that you love me regardless of my situation, of my sins, of my job, or whoever I or other people think I am. Thank you for loving me because you just can’t help but love. Thank you Lord God for you are good.

I want to know you more Father.

This I pray in Jesus’ name. Amen!
